We had a neighborhood block party at The Firehouse this past Saturday. We sent the neighbors around The Firehouse an invitation a couple of weeks ago. We also walked around the neighborhood about an hour before the event started to personally connect with some neighbors and invite them.
An outside group provided the entertainment. It was called Recess Extreme and it felt very much like a Nickelodeon kind of event. There were snacks, drinks, insane games, lots of laughter, fun music, and of course team competition.
I even got wrapped up in participating in the one of the games with my son and a kid from the neighborhood. Actually, it was Tanner who got wrapped up. I have led the TP wrapping game with teenagers so many times, but I have never actually done it. It was a lot harder than I thought.
Over 60 kids and adults showed up.
Half of those who attended were from The Firehouse while the other half were neighborhood kids, teens, and parents.
It was great to just get together, laugh, and have fun.
The yellow team won, which meant the red team captain got slimed.
We are following up this neighborhood block party with a neighborhood egg hunt on April 4 and a neighborhood work day on April 11.
